In honor of Valentines day, the good people over at YA Highway are asking the question
What do you love most about writing and/or reading?
For me, it's the transcendence that comes from a great story. Ever since I was a small child, great stories have power to pull me out of my current reality and send me to another place, often directly into the head of another person. This ability to experience everything the world has to show me, and sometimes even the things this world doesn't have but have been dreamed up by fiction writers anyway, has always delighted me.
I read in order to learn, and grow, and feel, and discover. I love to read because I love gaining the knowledge of understanding that can only be obtained by hearing another persons story. And I love writing for a similar reason.
I love to dream and invent knew characters that live no where but my own mind. To live them them and come to know them as well as I know myself, and then to share them. I write because I want to share the joy I always get from reading with other people. I want to tell my own stories and bring new worlds to life in the imaginations of my readers.
What's not to love?
