Friday Five - Best Contemporary YA

Seriously? You expect me to pick just five? I could totally do twenty-five. But I'll follow the rules. Here are five of my favorite contemporary YA novels. I can't promise they are my five favorites because I REALLY wanted to include eight and am feeling super guilty for leaving off those other three even as I post this. Anyway, here are my five.

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

The Sky is Every Where by Jandy Nelson

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

and Spanking Shakespeare by Jake Wizner

What about you? What are your five favorite contemporary YA novels? Head over to Paper Hangover and see what everyone else is saying.

I love the cover for The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Hilarious. I haven't read it yet but the cover has me sold.

Great choices. I'm going to have to check out Spanking Shakespeare. It was hard to pick just five.

Ok so my list of TBR is growing quite fast and I´m loving it :D
I have not been reading a lot of YA contemporary novels and I need to get on it!

Great picks! The Sky is Everywhere is next on my TBR list, and I'm so excited to get through my current book just to get to that one, lol. And that Spanking Shakespeare looks AWESOME. I'm heading to goodreads right. now. to put that on my list so I don't forget it!

I agree with Crystal L.--that cover to PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER is certainly different. I'm intrigued... :)

EXCELLENT list. "Wallflower" and The Sky Is Everywhere are on my list, too. Love the others, too!
